DESCRIPTION: In general, the work consists of: the demolition of the existing Cowley Hall and construct a new facility connected to Phase 1 of the Prairie Springs Science Center. Phase 2 will include offices, classrooms, instructional labs, research labs, and several highly specialized spaces that are critical to the overall delivery of science instruction and learning at UW-La Crosse.
In general, the work consists of the construction of a new 199,755 GSF facility consisting of four levels above grade and one below grade level of instructional and research laboratories along with a fifth-floor mechanical penthouse. The construction system will be primarily steel frame and floor systems. The envelope will be rain screen masonry and architectural precast walls with an aluminum curtain wall system. The roof construction will consist of a steel structure with an adhered EPDM roof system and integral drains. Interior construction will be metal stud gypsum clad partition walls, acoustical tile ceilings, terrazzo and resilient flooring.
Asbestos abatement and demolition work related to Cowley Hall will be completed by an Asbestos Abatement Contractor (AAC) under separate contract.
