The project consists of constructing a swine barn of approximately 5,500 square feet. The barn will house 20 sows and up to two boars in the breeding and gestation space. The farrowing space will accommodate 10 sows with their litter of piglets of 10 to 15 per sow. The two nurseries can accommodate up to 150 piglets in each room. The farm will move pigs between this new facility to the existing facilities. Underneath the breeding and gestation room and under the farrowing room is a cast-in place concrete manure pit approximately 8-feet deep for storage. The breeding and gestation floor over the deep pit is precast concrete plank (hog slat) consisting of solid and slotted planks. The farrowing room floor is a combination of solid precast plank at the walkways and woven welded galvanized steel panels. Beneath the two nurseries are shallow pits that will drain into the deep pit. The nursery floor is plastic nursery panels supported by fiberglass reinforced beams. The above ground building is an insulated wood post framed (pole) building with exterior steel roof and wall panels. The foundation and manure pits are reinforced cast in place concrete. A portion if the building has a concrete slab on grade. A portion of the building has finished spaces for a mechanical room, toilet room, vet storage, equipment wash, feed storage and boot flip. The HVAC systems consist of sealed combustion furnaces with ductwork, exhaust fans and unit heaters. The plumbing work includes a pressure tank, water heater, water and waste piping, toilet room fixtures, sinks and drains. The electrical work includes a power feeder to the new swine barn, lighting, power and equipment connections. The project includes all the swine equipment including feed silos, feed auger system, feeders, waterers, penning and gates.
